After a panic, as our conductor Becca was taken ill, we played really well with our stand in Kate Johnson (trumpet). The sun shone down despite rain clouds threatening across Hull on Saturday, and althought there was heavy rain on Saturday night a lovely afternoon ensued at Little Weighton Steam Fair.
The Buckrose Concert Band will make a guest appearance with the Brampton Concert Band from Ontario, Canada on Wednesday 2nd July 2014. The concert will include music played by both bands together, which is guaranteed to lift the roof of the Memorial Hall! An event not to be missed.
Well, after playing in the Methodist Church on Saturday, we went onto the Big Lunch in Princes Quay on Sunday – see our facebook page for photos and videos of the event.
What a fantastic time was had by all as we toured Belgium. Starting with The Last Post at Menin Gate, Ypres, then onto Brussells and finally Ostend. What a fantastic evening was had by all. With over 150 in the audience from age 4 upwards, the applause and shouts of ‘encore’ were amazing. Some lovely cakes baked by band members, family and friends to sell on the night as well as an impressive raffle. thanks to all those helpers, especially Ann who went the extra mile to get those tea spoons! After the disappointment of the event not being held in Beverley, we have booked Driffield School North Hall for the event on the same evening. So if you bought tickets for the other event why not get a refund and come to the new event. Tickets will be £5 or £3.50 for concessions which will include tea or coffee and biscuits.
