Buckrose Concert Band. Malcolm Heywood, a headmaster, started from scratch and ran a very successful wind band at Tutbury in Staffordshire for a quarter of a century. Six years ago, having retired to East Yorkshire he decided, with the support of his wife Vik and daughter Becca, to start a new band. The band played at the Bridlington Arts Festival Diamond Jubilee Concert on Tuesday 5th June. There is a review on the Bridlington Lions website.
A FUNDRAISING afternoon with live music at Pocklington Methodist Church helped raise hundreds of pounds for charity. Buckrose Concert Band played a selection of light music at the church in front of an audience of 80 people. Tea and homemade cakes were saved during the interval and a tombola was also held. The event raised £525.48 for the PSP Association, which supports people with the rare degenerative brain disease Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and the related disease Cortico Basal Degeneration…
